Stay Healthy in Monsoon

Welcome RAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After bearing this scorching heat of summer, I believe every one loves to see the rains. The name itself gives us such a wow!!! Feeling isn't it? Well, yes, to me I love rains. I love to be out in rains, and i thoroughly enjoy this beautiful weather with lush greens all around you and beautiful fragrance of that mud which you can smell in the first falls. ohhh!!! I love it, I love it sooo sooo much that i can literally sit in that mud to feel the smell of that first showers. the start of the rains is such a blessing to me at least, and I believe to all those who are not so comfortable in hot weather, that they can never stop themselves from getting wet.

Everything comes with its goods and bads and so does our beautiful weather. These beautiful showers do bring in some health problems and risks. Our immunity is the first thing that gets affected with stomach problems, allergies, rashes, and hair fall problems all coming as a package. We should always avoid eating out because we don’t know the hygiene level of the street food especially in the rains as the water is falling from everywhere and we don’t even know how good and how bad or stale is the food which we will be served .

Because of this beautiful weather the places are mostly damp and fungus set on things very fast so we have to be really very careful so that our health don’t go on a toss for our one day temptation of eating something fancy or too oily like deep fried or something, out. We can face serious threats like malaria, dengue, viral, gastro - intestinal infection, diarrhea, and many more.

We should eat lots of fruits like apples, pomegranates, pears these three are such marvellous fruits. An apple a day keeps a doctor away, a pear a day keeps the fever away and a pomegranate a day boost immunity every day. its a very good source of iron and vitamin C. having a dash of garlic in everything that you eat, be it a bread, chappati, soup, curry what so ever, if you start adding a bit of garlic in ever thing, it will do a lot of good to you and to your body .

Tips :-

  • Always wash your hands and feet when ever you enter your house because you will be bringing many more germs as guest with you .
  • Do not pick any fruit and eat without washing it.
  • Always carry your own water bottle in rains.
  • Always carry an umbrella, or a raincoat when you move out.
  • Eat vegetables like bitter gourd, and add turmeric to most of your foods, Fenugreek and its seeds can be popped in in the morning. its good for health and immunity.
  • Drink two three cups of green tea a day. Ginger tea, black tea with honey, chamomile, lemon grass, mint, basil all these teas are very good to take in this weather.

  • Once you catch influenza, you could easily infect others through coughing and sneezing. Hence, to prevent spreading the flu , a sick person should cover his/her mouth and nose while sneezing and coughing. Staying away from crowded places or distancing yourself from infected people can also help.
  • Eat in moderation as the body finds it harder to digest food during the monsoon
  • Always take a shower when you come drenched in rain water because rain water is not good and first rains are all full of pollution.
  • The exposure to the rainwater causes damage not only to the hair but also to the scalp and thus damaging hair roots. As the scalp gets damaged it gives rise to a lot of problems. The consequent warm, humid condition of the atmosphere gives rise to the growth of bacteria and fungi on the scalp. Do not dry your hair with blow dryer. It will them too dry . Do not even use too much of Hair - Iron.
  • If you are suffering from Arthritis you should take a cup of warm tea made of tulsi and dalchini. Just boil the two things without sugar in the water. let it boil for 5mins. and steep for two mins. then take them off the stove and drink. It will help in the bowel movements in the morning as well as reduce your pain.
  • You should not drink buttermilk if you are suffering from Arthritis. The nature of the drink will increase the pains in the bones.
  • Always Steam your salad in rainy season. Do not eat anything raw. Do not use dressing which is heavy.
  • Never go on for fruits which are already cut and sold. Always eat seasonal fruits like Lychees, pomegranates and apples and bananas. Stored fruits can be infested with worms .

  • Diabetic patients should take special care not to walk barefoot because they can pick germs from the soil and that can be a very big problem for them.
  • Do not go in damp places or sit beside damp walls. they have fungus growing in rains and people suffering from asthma and diabetes can catch them very fast.
  • Try to keep your feet as dry as possible to avoid fungul infections.
  • You can get infections in areas that are difficult to keep dry, such as between your toes, groin area, folds in abdominal area and below or between the breasts. Excessive sweating during the rain due to the humidity can also cause fungal infections. Being dry is the foremost step in preventing any sort of fungal infection.
  • Avoid stagnant water as this will give rise to diseases like malaria and dengue. You should always throw away the water inside the unused tank, flower pots as well as water coolers.  Since stagnant water is a place where the mosquito can breed, avoiding such stagnant water will be an important consideration when you are living in monsoons. Also don’t forget to place mosquito net or a repellent when you are asleep at night.   If you see standing water in or near your surrounding put some drops of kerosene oil in it.
  • Also take special care of children who like to splish and splash water all the time. Splashing water from water clogged streets could be very dangerous as it conceals lot of rubbish from manholes, over flowing dustbinns and gutters.

  • Take moderately hot food and drinks in monsoon.
  •  Consumption of too much watery food during monsoon can give rise to swelling in your body. So, it’s better to avoid.
  • Keep all eatables, cooked and uncooked vegetables fully covered and store separately.
  • Freshly prepared radish juice is a good remedy for colds. Pinches of rock salt mixed in warm water also help reduce mucous formation.
  •  Thoroughly clean your refrigerator to avoid formation of fungus, which may spread to food items, stored in it. If food items are shrinking or losing their freshness, don’t use them.
